My Samsung Chronos-700Z7C can't suspend after 13.04 -> 13.10 upgrade.

  • UBUNTU: 13.10 - 64-bit
  • Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-3635QM CPU @ 2.40GHz × 8
  • Memory: 11.4 GiB
  • Graphics: Intel® Ivybridge Mobile (I'm using the Intel graphical driver in its standard-mode - NVIDIA driver is not installed).

This line is also recorded every fifth second in the syslog during normal operation:

upgrading always cause problems (this is a small problem !) i used to have 12.04 and upgraded it to 12.10 and even Ubuntu software center didn't work! if you want a healthy 13.10 i suggest you clean install (select erase 13.04 and install 13.10 in installation) (the way i have upgraded from 13.04 to 13.10 without any problems!) –  HOS Oct 26 '13 at 15:57

I did (nearly) as suggested in the above comment:

  • Downloaded the 13.10 iso
  • Made a start-up USB-drive based on the downloaded iso
  • Booted and did a re-install (preserving installed files and Home) from from the USB (Not an erase install)

Now everything works as intended - including suspend.

/Thanks
