Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I've loaded 13.04 on to my laptop, and while it worked fine when I initially installed it, I turned on my computer this morning to find the screen a mess. The screen is perfectly fine during start up and to the log in screen, then when I enter my password and log in, the screen becomes incredibly distorted and unreadable, then finally goes black.

The weird thing is though that the mouse is still visible and unaffected. This is the third time or so that I've completely wiped and reinstalled Ubuntu (the first time was 13.10 64 bit, the second 13.10 32 bit, this time 13.04 32 bit), and this has happened each time, but only after shutting my computer down and turning it back on. Help?
