My VGA controller is Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07). There was no problem is 9.10, currently m running 9.10 but i want to upgrade to 10.04, please help....i have searched everywhere but m not able to find a solution.

See the Kernel Modeset wiki page. Use i915.modeset=0 in your GRUB boot options and see if that fixes it.

i have not tried it yet. but i read that it leads to some battery drain issue?...m not sure on this just want to clarify are there any negatives on doing modeset? – user2013 Sep 6 '10 at 13:14
