Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

It is still stuck at release 0.5.2 since early last year, while release 0.6.0 does not seem to be progressed to a stable release for 12.04 LTS. Any plans for the update to occur before the end of the year?

In a related but separate question, I note that the latest Modem Manager GUI (0.0.16) has now been released for Saucy Salamander in its Software Center, but still with the older 0.0.13 version for Precise's Software Center - why does it not follow suit?

You should ask for a backport. –  Andrea Corbellini Oct 18 '13 at 14:17

This is not primarily opinion based, nor a bug report. –  psusi Oct 19 '13 at 17:23

A stable release means it isn't constantly upgrading to the latest software. New software goes into a new release. If you want the new software, then upgrade to the new release.
