Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Do note that I am a newbie.... And I have no knowledge about Linux.... Just a little bit.

When I boot into my ubunutu all I see is a blurred image completely blurred so that you can't see a single thing.... And there is a little strip at top which can be seen properly.... I believe it's the login screen... Because I have used ubuntu before... And removed it cuz my graphics card didn't use to get along well with the ubuntu...

I will post the picture later.....

And I have windows 8 installed alongside ubuntu... and both are 64-bits.

Sorry for my poor English..

Do you get a readable command line when you press Ctrl+Alt+F1? –  David Foerster Oct 13 '13 at 13:59
Didn't try. I will try it later. –  Jawad Ahmed Oct 13 '13 at 14:10
After pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1 the whole screen turns black.... Nothing happens..... Here are a few images to explain my problem..... In these images you can see that strip which is the only properly visible area and the pointer can be seen there... imgur.com/a/Z5M0l#0 –  Jawad Ahmed Oct 13 '13 at 18:13
Can you start the "recovery mode" from the "advanced options" submenu in the grub boot menu? That should at least give you a working terminal for further investigation. –  David Foerster Oct 13 '13 at 18:42
Yes.. I can.. But there is no option to access the terminal... or at-least I didn't see any. –  Jawad Ahmed Oct 14 '13 at 2:38
