Hi I seemed to run into a problem regarding the lighting for Ubuntu 12.04 on my Sony Vaio (VPC-CW2FGX/B). I used to be able to adjust the brightness when I first installed Ubuntu, but when I installed the proprietary nVIDIA drivers the Brightness and Lock (in System Settings) does not have the option to slide the brightness anymore.

I went online and read a ton of other askubuntu links, but none of them worked. I've tried:

^ I couldn't get that one to work because there was nothing inside the /backlight folder.

The only thing that worked for me was manually changing the backlight with an example command below:

xbacklight -40
