Update Manager error:

An unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information.

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:
E:Opening /etc/apt/sources.list - ifstream::ifstream (13: Permission denied)

But my system current version is 12.04 (32bit)

Please anybody help me.

Please edit your question to provide more info: how did you upgrade? Did the upgrade complete or was it interrupted? Have you had similar issues with any previous upgrades? –  amc Sep 20 '13 at 5:05

This is a bug. See: How do I report a bug? Although, try to do this: sudo chmod 644 /etc/apt/sources.list and try opening up Update Manager. If it still gives you the same error, then report a bug. –  Alaa Ali Sep 20 '13 at 5:27

Actually appart of the command Alaa used, you should also do: sudo chown root:root /etc/apt/sources.list. –  Braiam Sep 21 '13 at 0:32
