To hopefully be able to help, we need the exact brand and name of the wireless chip. Please edit your question to include the relevant line(s) of the output you get when running lspci in terminal. –  soulsource Sep 15 '13 at 17:37

give us your lspci and/or lsusb command output from a terminal. We need to know the model of your wifi adapter. Check if the switch of your wifi is not off. In some switch the button has an effect without turning on the led. I had an acer and the wifi switch connects and disconnect the wifi adapter witch was a hidden usb device. –  Antoine Rodriguez Sep 15 '13 at 17:56

The best way to add additional information to your question is by editing it, with the edit button. It is better visible that way, and comments are mainly for secondary, temporary purposes. Comments are removed under a variety of circumstances. Anything important to your question should be in the question itself. –  guntbert Sep 18 '13 at 17:39
