I am running a stock Hp Pavailion dv6.
My laptop will not boot either OS. It makes it to the Windows logo, then powers off and restarts. On the Ubuntu side it makes it to the the choose OS, whenI select Ubuntu it starts to run then restarts.
It happened when I was on the Ubuntu side. I was typing a document up and it just shut down on me and has booted correctly since (2 days ago).
I have run all the diagnostics on the computer, including memory and battery tests and they both came back normal. I tried panel of things to do when your laptop acts up such as removing the battery and holding down the power and that did not fix anything. I tried launching Windows in repair mode and it just restarts. I tried using the safe mode to run windows and it would just restart and this applies to the last known good configuration, and disable the automatic restart on failure.
I used the set up to install Ubuntu 13.04 fine a few months back with only a few gigs of space allocated to it and it has worked fine the entire time.
Is this a hardware things, did I use more memory then I had allocated and this was causing problems? If so is there a solution?
So any advice on what to do next would really be appreciated.
Note: I have been running Ubuntu for months off hard drive.
Neither Ubuntu or windows will make it past the logo screens and the computer just restarts. I am not sure what to do.
