I have updated to 12.10 and have had several graphic problems ever since.

First boot, only tty1 was available. Unity not working at all. Cutting a long story short, after reinstalling xorg and gnome, I could finally use gnome. However, it's painfully slow. The CPU usage while scrolling through PDFs and tumblr is ridiculously high!

I checked several guides but I couldn't understand what is wrong with the video driver. This is the result to

lspci | grep VGA ; lsmod | grep "kms\|drm" ; find /dev -group video ; \
cat /proc/cmdline ; find /etc/modprobe.d/; cat /etc/modprobe.d/*kms* ; \
ls /etc/X11/xorg.conf ; glxinfo | grep -i "vendor\|rendering" ; \
grep LoadModule /var/log/Xorg.0.log

(found it here)
