Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Brand new laptop, installed win7, created a 30gb partition and installed 13.04 (64bit EUFI off a usb drive) gets through the install with no issues i used the Easy setup.

it did not alter my win7 MBR so i used FreeBCD to write the record, but every time i boot to Ubuntu i get to a Grub4dos prompt that i can't seem to get past.

Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported. For the first word, TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists possible device or file completions.

FREEBCD can only do so much, and i can see the partition from win7 just fine, and the swap as well, but i just can never seem to get to the desktop.

I havent touched anything other then windows for ages, so im running out of ideas and have been searching on here for ages to get past this error and everything i have read and tried just does not seem to work. I can never get to the OS past that grub4dos prompt no matter what i do.
