After installing Ubuntu 12.04, i upgraded to 12.10. When the computer restarted, i selected the Ubuntu OS, then the screen went purple for a second or so, and then went blank

I don't know how to proceed.

My comp specs: Windows 7 32-bit Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3210 CPU @ 3.20 GHz RAM: 4GB Graphics Card: Intel(R) HD Graphics 2500

You are likely having an issue with the graphics driver. However, you don't want to be running 12.10 anyway. You need to either stay with 12.04 LTS or use 13.04. –  david6 Sep 5 '13 at 8:39

do i need to uninstall 12.10 first and then install 13.04? or will it get removed when i install 13.04? –  user190265 Sep 5 '13 at 9:41

If you do an install of 13.04 over the current 12.10 that will work. There is no uninstall. Make sure you backup any user-data, passwords or settings before you proceed. –  david6 Sep 5 '13 at 10:30
