W: A error occurred during the signature verification. The repository is not updated and the previous index files will be used.<br>GPG error: precise Release: The following signatures were invalid: BADSIG 40976EAF437D05B5 Ubuntu Archive Automatic Signing Key <>

I issued the following command:

sudo apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver 40976EAF437D05B5

And got the following message:

Tried the series of commands from this posting:

Apt BADSIG error (Ubuntu Archive Automatic Signing Key) while updating

Tried using Y-PPA-Manager:

Nothing has worked so far.

Found out that the PPA was outdated. Got the updated PPA, replaced the old with, reran update and this time no error messages.
