Brightness control is not working on Ubuntu 13.04 64-bit

I found a workaround from the hardware itself. This is from Samsung's website and it works just what I needed for now. To use the brightness, contrast or auto-adjust function, press and hold the Power button for 5 seconds or longer. To select a menu item from the menu screen, press and hold the Power button until the menu item is selected. To move to another menu item, press the Power button briefly. –  Arnold Sep 5 '13 at 2:43
