I have a Dell Inspiron 1564 laptop with a Core i3 processor,3GB RAM and a 320GB hard drive. Currently Windows 7 is running in my laptop.

I want to install Ubuntu alongside Windows 7, but whenever I install Ubuntu there is an option which is asking to Install Ubuntu inside Windows 7. I selected that option and clicked on Continue. After doing this, my laptop restarted automatically, and Windows 7 desktop appears instead of the Ubuntu installation process. Please tell me if you have any solution for this problem. I have tried both ways of installation (DVD drive and live USB).

Try boot-repair. Perform a Recommended repair. It will give you a url at the end, just include that url in your question if even after boot-repair doesn't solve the issue –  Web-E Aug 29 '13 at 12:16
What version of Ubuntu are you trying to install? Also, are you sure you are shutting down not hibernation, nor suspend windows 7? Have you run chkdsk /f in the windows command propmt? –  Braiam Aug 29 '13 at 12:46
