Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

After seeing "grub rescue", I booted my computer to the Windows 7 DVD. From there,I used the commands FIXMBR and FIXBOOT and rebuildbcd. after restarting, Windows7 came back. but the problem is that it couldn't detect ubuntu. I mean it started loading windows 7. then I used ubuntu cd to boot from the live CD. when I used the "sudo fdisk -l" command. it didn't show any row with "Linux" word in "system" column. It seems that I've lost my ubuntu. I'm very hopeless. I need some of my files which were only there. is there any possibility that I can access them?
