I am getting this error message:

E:Malformed line 56 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (dist parse)

and as a result the update manager won't work. I am very new to Linux so if you could break it down really simply I would appreciate it greatly.

Hi, thankyou for your response. When I try the update command I get this message E: Malformed line 56 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (dist parse E: The list of sources could not be read. Is there anything else I could try? – John Aug 29 '13 at 12:55
