I'd like to install Ubuntu on my Acer S3, but I can't see the 20 GB SSD. /dev/sda is the HDD.

There are on the HDD two 140 GB partitions, a 15 GB big partition and a ~100 MB partition, and there is a 2 MB big device on /dev/sdb.

Why can't I see the SSD?

I can't find any indication that your model has an SSD. The 2MB device is likely a memory card –  Elder Geek Jun 17 at 23:32
