I would like to know what is involved in Ubuntu certification process. The reason why I am asking this question is this. I have recently installed Ubuntu 12.04 on a DELL machine (that was certified), and the installation was a breeze. Later I started to have problems including crashes on heat and freezes on video driver. However when I installed it, I did not check kernel.log and dmesg. And so I happily submitted my install to Canonical as success. This is maybe a suggestion to Ubuntu/Canonical to read, collect and check for errors dmesg and kernel.log and other log files in /var/log. IMHO. The errors could then be notes added to the certifications.
