I got a running Ubuntu dhcp server and a running pxe booted xubuntu client.

The problem is that the client does not recognize the ethernet connection when trying to access internet.

nmcli dev list iface eth0 gives nothing special and no ip information about eth0: state 10, reason 0, driver atl1c, nm-managed no, autoconnect yes, connection not connected, carrier-detect yes, speed 100 mb/s.

It terminates with segmentation fault. eth0 must be connected since the client is depending on the connection via pxe boot.

How can I configure the dhcp server or the client such that the client has got internet access?

/etc/dhcp/dhcpd.conf :

allow booting;
allow bootp;
# own ip 192.168.1.123
subnet 192.168.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 {
  range 192.168.1.3 192.168.1.99;
  option broadcast-address 192.168.1.255;
  option routers 192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.123;
  option domain-name-servers 192.168.1.123, 192.168.1.1, 145.255.48.1, 212.79.181.190, 8.8.8.8;

  filename "/pxelinux.0";
}
