I am trying to install Ubuntu 13.04 on a 250GB hard drive alongside Windows 7, which is already installed and working fine. In Windows, I created 50GB of unallocated space on that hard drive. After booting Ubuntu off of a USB drive, I started the installer off the desktop. It told me that it didn't detect any operating systems and gave me the option to delete my hard disk and install, or do something else. I clicked something else, and it detected a 1TB disk for data I happened to have, but the 250GB disk was listed as free space, but its obviously not not.

I have no idea what to do at this point. Any suggestions?

Is it possible for you to take a picture of the screen where it lists your Windows partition as free space? –  Kenneth Clark Aug 24 '13 at 2:08
