I have a Lenovo G505 laptop that had Windows 8 preinstalled. After disabling the Safe Boot option I installed Ubuntu 12.04. The only problem I had during installation is that it dropped wifi. I rebooted after installation was finished, but it can't start the Xserver. I read somewhere else that it might be a problem with /etc/X11/xorg.conf. That file does not exist in the /etc/X11 folder, but there is a file named xorg.conf.failsafe so I copied it to xorg.conf and then rebooted. Still no Xserver started. After logging in, I looked at the files in my home directory, and did not see any files related to xserver - I expected to see one or more files named something like .xconfig.
What do I need to do to configure Ubuntu for XServer?
