Have you tried just plug it? When you plug it, it gets detected? Once you plug it, Ubuntu don't ask you if you want to install the HP drivers? –  Braiam Aug 20 '13 at 18:15
13.04 service has been closed, please upgrade your system by 13.10 or 14.04 –  ARUL Jun 18 '14 at 9:59

Most hp printers are supported out of the box for 13.04 (I believe it was because of hplip HP Linux Printing and Imaging that was added) just go to system settings (it's the cog and the wrench icon in your launcher), dubble click printers, press add. It should find your printer and you can just install it (it will find the appropriate drivers for you) and you're done
