Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I can't change the default wallpaper. When I right-click the desktop and open "Change Wallpaper" (actually I'm using it in spanish, so it says "Cambiar el fondo de escritorio") I can select other images, but I don't see any change in the actual desktop, even if I close that window or restart it... is just like it doesn't make any change.

I have also tried to right click in an image in my home folder and mark it as wallpaper, but it doesn't work either.

Sorry if this seems like a duplicate question, but the other questions that I visited didn't help me at all :/

Thanks in advance!

It should work the way you're doing it. Make sure that the right permissions are set of the images that you want to add. If all fails, take a look at This, see if it helps. –  Mitch Aug 19 '13 at 8:17
I tried with ordinary images (with the right permissions set). I will try that "Variety", but what I would really like is to solve the problem... I don't think that this is a normal behavior of Ubuntu :( –  user185326 Aug 26 '13 at 18:56
