I was installing ubuntu replacing windows 7 with a usb stick. everything was going smooth until I accidentally dislodged the usb stick. everything went blank. After restarting after the initial system screen a blank screen is coming up with blinking cursor. I am not very tech savvy. I tried booting with another bootable usb stick with the same result. Please if someone can help.

Hello Sanyal. Welcome to AskUbuntu. Did you already check your system in order to make it boot from USB first? This can be configured inside of the BIOS under the Boot configuration, which may vary in each model. Additionally, certain BIOS POST's allow you to choose which device you wish to boot from by hitting a key, sometimes F9, F2, F10, etc. Then choose the proper device to boot from. If you are receiving the same behavior may be caused by the lack of a fully functional operating system in your main Hard Disk Drive. Please let us know if you succeed booting by modifying the BIOS options. –  Geppettvs D'Constanzo Aug 13 '13 at 23:43
