Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Ubuntu recognizes that my ethernet cable is there and it says that a connection has been established except FireFox won’t work. I don’t know what to do? I was reading some woman’s post in the support community that was having the same problem. And the guy told her to go to terminal and type in “ifconfig” which I did and then he told her to post what it said. But obviously I cannot connect to the internet from that computer. I am using my other one. If anyone can help please do.

Do you get a "wired connection"? –  Dummy Code Aug 13 '13 at 21:10
