Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I can successfully boot my computer to the login screen; however, upon logging in, I get about 3-5 seconds of responsive linux run time. After that, the computer just freezes; I cannont get it to respond in any way. The odd part about this behavior is that it is not a fresh install. I have had this particular install of Linux running for a few months now. It just started doing this. Any suggestions for troubleshooting this kind of behavior?

Thanks for your help in advance...
