Im using Ubuntu 12.04 and every time I try to shutdown or reboot from GUI, it just logs out and just be there in the login screen.

It only shuts down after I login and open a terminal,become a root user and then do init 0 .It shuts down when I use init 0 else not .

If any one has faced this issue please share the solution.

please run who command in the terminal and share the result.please take a look at the logfiles (e.g. /var/log/messages or /var/log/syslog) after a failed attempt to shutdown via GUI –  Stormvirux Aug 6 '13 at 5:06
who command gives me result as sysadmin pst/0 and time i cleared the syslog and shutdown it and tried but there in no syslog –  Lonston Aug 8 '13 at 3:50
