OK, I have a WiFi network that I am using on Ubuntu and Windows computer, but I have a Acer Aspire D250 netbook that I cant seem to get to find my wireless network. On this computer, I had the same problem with Linux Mint, but didn't have an issue with Ubuntu. I would install Ubuntu again but found it to be way too slow for my old little netbook and so far Xubuntu is much better.
I've got Xubuntu 11.10, completely updated via wired connection, my WiFi does work somewhat because I can see my neighbors WiFi networks but can't see the WiFi network I'm sitting 3 feet away from.
The other issue is I can't log into my router to change the settings or even see the settings... long story, but I can't. I also cant reset it because the phone company had to come and set it up and its another long story, but in short, I live in a country that speaks another language and I'm still learning... very slowly :(
I don't know why it doesn't work with Xubuntu or Linux Mint but does with Ubuntu... anyone have any ideas how to fix it. I've looked through plenty of posts and tried most remedies that I can but there isn't many suggestions specific to my problem. Any help will be appreciated.
I'm not completely stupid, but I don't have a lot of Linux experience so I may seem a little slow sometimes.
If there is anymore info that I should provide please let me know and I'll do what I can. Cheers.
