I am trying to make a dual boot ubuntu/win8 on my new laptop, that came with a pre-installed windows 8. After leaving some 300 Gb unpartitioned space in Windows I created a live USB and booted it on UEFI mode, then I launched the install as detailed in here. However, the options for installing next to windows or erasing windows do not come. Instead I have an empty partition window.
I read somewhere that the RAID drivers of Ubuntu might be a problem, so I tried to disable them with sudo apt-get remove dmraid, and then I did got the options for creating a partition table, but no Windows 8 installation was detected, which might be logical, since all my volumes are RAID administered (I could see that in my BIOS).
So what I am after is a dual boot with windows 8 on raid administered volumes. I mention that I have a 32 GB SSD cache, but I want both OS-es on my HDD, and if possible to get the SSD benefit in Ubuntu as well. So the links on installing win7/ubuntu on a raid ssd do not help me at all.
I don't know what RAID does and if the SSD is the real reason, and it would also help me if I could at least see the windows partitions using my live USB, so maybe you could help me with that too?
