Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Launching Steam results in nothing, with no error message. Attempting to launch from Terminal results in this message:

/usr/bin/steam: line 191: /home/usr/.local/share/Steam/steam.sh: Success

But, again, nothing else happens. I reinstalled Steam multiple times, with the same result. I have made sure I am updated to Ubuntu 12.10 and that all software has been updated to its most recent versions.

I searched for answers in other threads, specifically this thread with user109409's comment, to no avail. For that reason I started a new thread. I hope this won't be flagged as a duplicate.

Are you really trying to do this with wine? I've seen wine take over file associations that it shouldn't and break a few things. Maybe un-install it and see if that makes things better –  KayEss Jul 31 '13 at 4:39
