Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I recently purchased a Zenbook UX31A and installed Ubuntu on it. Unfortunately, I noticed that it overheats very easily. It idles at 67 Degrees Celsius and right now, writing this post, its at 78 Degrees just running a few chrome tabs.

I learned on forums that the issue is associated with the new Kernel not working with the new CPU/GPU. There were some suggestions on how to change Grub parameters which I implemented but they did not work. I am wondering if anyone knows how to fix this. Please keep in mind that I am a bit of newbie and have never really done anything related to the linux kernel, so any answer or link that describes what to do step by step would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
