I have Windows Vista on my ASUS F5GL. After trying to boot Ubuntu (from DVD or USB either) these error messages occur:

[DRM] GPU lockup - switching to software fbcon
[2850] failed to idle channel 0xcccc0001
[PFIF0] [0000:02:00.0] channel 3 unload timeout

The installation won't start and these messages run in a cycle. Please, could you help me to solve this?

Using 13.04 with a nvidia GPU? if you keep rebooting it will work, when you get it up upgrade to the mainline kernel to solve the issue –  GM-Script-Writer-62850 Jul 30 '13 at 11:24
Yes, I'm trying to install ubuntu 13.04 but these messages came from noveau driver. How can I overcome this to the installation? I think just rebooting won't help because after a while the whole process freezes into a black screen. It's my first touch with any Linux at all. –  Mark Jul 30 '13 at 15:46
now that the forums are back up, here is the sticky –  GM-Script-Writer-62850 Aug 1 '13 at 3:25
