So I have a Windows 8 Dual-Boot with Ubuntu 12.04, and I am experiencing connection issues almost all of the time with Ubuntu (windows is just fine).
It turns out that for my laptop, I have the following ethernet controller:
08:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. Device 10a1 (rev 10)
During this troubleshoot, I had wireless connectivity. So, with a little help from this link: How do I install drivers for the Atheros AR8161 Ethernet controller?
I THOUGHT I was in the clear when I tried the 28-vote solution and restarted the system. Not only did it not work, I do not have wireless internet access on that computer in Ubuntu! Connecting to wireless is weird because somehow the wireless is disabled by some hardware switch (this may have to do with Windows 8).
I am stuck, and I need help with fixing connectivity issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
