I'm having Wi-Fi issues on my system. Sometimes my computer randomly disconnects from my home Wi-Fi network, with the Wi-Fi icon on the bottom of my (Cinnamon) screen saying that the network is suddenly "out of range". This usually doesn't happen with either of my Ubuntu laptops, only my desktop. I know that the network is indeed within range, as this doesn't happen on the same computer with Windows.
Please note this only tends to happen during heavy internet usages (eg. streaming videos). Of course, this is when the loss of internet is at its most inconvenient. I've tried rebooting both the computer and the router, but to no avail.
On my desktop, I'm running Ubuntu 13.04, x64 with the latest updates. My Wi-Fi adapter is a Netgear WG111v2. My router is an AT&T Uverse, manufactured by Motorola, with a model number of NVG510, and a software version number of 9.0.6h2d21.
Update: I've found that I can significantly reduce the number of disconnections I experience by typing
sudo iwconfig wlan0 rate 5.5M. However, this workaround isn't 100% effective; if I try to do some online banking, I will get disconnected. IF anyone can help, please do.
