I've installed Ubuntu 12.04 to my Sony vaio VGN-NS305D computer, but I decided to go back to windows, and tried to format it with, xp, windows 7, windows 8 disks. But none of them were able to see my hard drive, I can't change bios settings from bios, and yes even I changed to boot from DVD player so I could install the windows. I used boot disk repair, gported tools to delete participations and formatted hdd to ntfs, fat32. And also it wasn't even able to read the windows 7 DVD. It sees xp and windows 8 CDs but xp gives error, windows 8 cd says hdds locked, won't repair won't take me to hdd participation step to format the hard disk. But it does loads Ubuntu 12.04. I had to reinstall to be able to use my laptop. Please help ASAP, if possible, step by step and clearly. Since I don't know a lot about Ubuntu and format issues. thank you all:)

Try entering BIOS/UEFI and set your disk controller mode to Standard (Standard IDE or SATA, Legacy) instead of AHCI. –  Mitch Jul 27 '13 at 7:28
