Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I first tried installing Ubuntu the way I'd do on a PC, by erasing the disk and installing. It didn't work. Then, I tried several things, including installing Mac again, and formatting the partitions manually, selecting swap and bootable drive. None of these worked.

What do I have to do to install Ubuntu 13.04 on a MacBook Pro already without MacOS X (I have the OS media).

Does this help? It addresses the main difference between installing on a Mac vs. other platforms (making a USB flash drive that can be booted on a Mac). –  Eliah Kagan Jul 29 '13 at 22:34
