I have tried my old 11.04 disc, and I also downloaded both 64bit and 32bit versions of 13.04. I can make the disc and I can get into the installer after rebooting, but when I click to install it, it sits there for hours before coming back with an error. I can't remember the error but it gave me the option to try again or cancel so I said eff it and quit. I really want 13.04 64bit, but its giving me trouble. Also, I noticed when I "try" Ubuntu from the disc, my USB DVD drive does not show up until I unplug it and plug it back in, but still does not install. WTF?!

I think, you created an installation DVD with the .iso file. You can try to make an installation USB media. After booting with the USB Installer, it can solve the problem. You may think to try that. –  ubuntu_tr Jul 25 '13 at 14:43
