Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I just upgraded to 12.04 on my laptop, now every time I restart the resolution is extremely low when I get to the desktop but in the display settings it says it's the proper resolution (1440x900) & the mouse pointer is off a good 2 inches to the right so to click anything I have to click way off to the right.

It is installed on an Asus G71G laptop with a nvidia gtx 260m graphics card. I was running the current version driver and had the issue so I am now running the latest experimental version 310 driver but, it didn't help.

It appears if I log off and wait a few mins when I log back in it is back to normal, this leads me to believe its an issue with the graphics card being out of sync with the startup process.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
