I have a Mac with OS-X (Mountain Lion) with a couple of folder shares that is connected to my home network. I also have an Ubuntu 12.04 box connected to the same network. I configured my Mac to use smb (Windows) for sharing. After this was done, I am able to see from my Linux box the Mac shares. My problem now is that when I try to open a document (that is on the Mac share) from the Linux machine (pdf, .doc, .xls, etc) I always get the ASCII filter options dialog, and afterwards, a blank document. In other words, my Linux machine is not able to open a file that is residing in a Mac share. Any ideas to solve this problem are appreciated. Thanks.
