Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have 3 Ubuntu computers. 2 can share directories with no problem but the 3rd isn't visible from the other 2, nor can the other 2 see it. I am referring to the Browse command under Natilus, now called Files.

There is a nice answer to a similar problem Can't see other computer on network

I managed to transfer the file using the sftp protocol described in the above. My wife needs something much easier which is where the Browse comes in.

The browse shows only directories on the single computer which have been shared using samba but can't see other computers on the LAN. BTW, I have 2 user accounts on the lone computer and neither is able to see the other 2 computers on the LAN. Only the sftp can get the information across.

Any suggestions as what could be wrong?? Thanks, Ilan
