When I was doing an upgrade I got the following message:

Third party sources disabled

Some third party entries in your sources.list were disabled. You can re-enable them after the upgrade with the 'software-properties' tool or Synaptic.

Why can't I upgrade?

This alone (third party sources) should not prevent you from upgrading, it just means that some additional software will have to be taken care of after the upgrade. Please tell us (i) what your current OS version is (ii) which version do you want to have (iii) how are you trying to upgrade and (iv) how does it fail. –  January Jul 18 '13 at 7:14
