I am getting my feet wet with MAAS and try to setup a 1 controller system in a VM (Virtual Box).

I want the controller to manage nodes in a host only network (with DNS and DHCP) but it needs to access the internet, so I attached a second interface in bridged mode.

What is the best way to get the system working?

My first approach was to install it completely via the Server CD. That seemed to work but I got no local DNS server and the configuration of IP-addresses was not straight forward.

Now I was installing the server without MAAS and only the external interface, then added the host-only interface and configured the IP settings appropriately. This approach looks a little roundabout though.

Any insights which approach will be the most efficient?
