I recently got hp Pavilion g6-2313AX and installed windows 8 and Ubuntu 12.04 in it. I was able to find the driver for wireless adapter for windows 8. I was trying to do the same. In order to know the exact adapter information, I gave the following command :

    sudo lshw -c network

And I got the following details

    *-network UNCLAIMED
   description: Network controller
   product: Ralink corp.
   vendor: Ralink corp.
   physical id: 0
   bus info: pci@0000:02:00.0

   clock: 33MHz

I can see the ethernet there, but am not able to find anything saying as wireless adapter ot interface.

Is Network Controller same as wireless interface (Sorry if the question is naive, but am new to these and I dunno how to configure them the right way).?

How can I get my wireless working? I cannot even see an option that says as wireless network in system settings -> network. Can you please tell me how can I establish wireless, given the above information. Your help is much needed.

Thanks in advance.

I am certain that, in this context, 'Network Controller' is the wireless. The notation UNCLAIMED means no driver exists on the system to claim or drive it. In order to find and install a driver, we need a few more details. Open the terminal and run and post: lspci -nn | grep 0280. The pipe symbol | is on the right side of my US keyboard on the same key with \. –  chili555 Jul 16 '13 at 12:53
