Recently, I bought a new Asus Vivobook S400 because my netbook wasn't able to handle some simulations i need to run. The problem is the wireless and brightness function keys aren't working under ubuntu 13.04.
Initially, the brightness keys were working fine but not the wifi one and the strength of the wifi signal was really low, so I applied the solution found here. So this way I solved the wifi signal problem, but the brightness keys stopped working after that. This is how I have the brightness-related-line of my grub config file:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash pcie_aspm=force acpi_backlight=vendor"
This is the output of the
rfill -list command:
$ rfkill list 1: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no 2: hci0: Bluetooth Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no
And this is the output of
Linux charliebook 3.10.0-rc5 #1 SMP Sat Jun 15 23:08:41 EEST 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
One last comment: Sometimes I can adjust the brightness using the slider controls in the power settings window, but not all the time.
Here is the output of
lspci -vnn |grep -A15 VGA:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller : Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller [8086:0166] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Any suggestion? Thanks in advance! Cheers! Charlie
