I am looking for an Android tablet which can be mounted by Ubuntu to transfer files. At this time I do not want to install Ubuntu on the tablet. Since Android 4.x there are problems preventing Ubuntu to copy files from and to mobile devices. I am looking for a tablet which does not require any proprietary software to be connected to a computer. This is very hard to figure out from the hardware manufacturer's information. In most cases I would need to order the tablet and try it myself. I hope there is someone out there having found a nice tablet (10", WiFi, 3G) that works smoothly with Ubuntu 12.04.

Thanks!

The problem you are describing is the recent move by Android to use MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) rather than the classic mass-storage device. You might want to look at askubuntu.com/questions/189591/…. Unfortunately, I don't have info on specific models of tablet. –  Travis G. Jul 13 '13 at 23:18
