I recently purchased an external portable Blu Ray/DVD/CD etc external drive for travel. I also still have with me an older Asus external DVD/CD drive. While my older Asus drive works fine playing DVDs, the Buffalo drive does not seem to want to cooperate.
I just installed the library packs for DVD, mpeg, etc support as per answers to DVD-playing questions elsewhere here. The Asus works fine in all respects. The Buffalo spools up and works fine on a Windows machine so there are no hardware/firmware defects on the unit itself.
I tried searching the Buffalo support site for a driver package for the unit but nothing cropped up that seemed to apply to the Linux operating system. I have tried combing through some of the other questions but I am operating through a sat link in the middle of the ocean so search speeds are a bit... sluggish. My apologies if someone else has posed this and my search-fu did not find.
