I have a nightmare time installing Canon Selphy cp 510. Funny thing is, it used to work on my previous laptop with 10.04, but I seem to remember also having problems installing it. I know that gutenprint is required (and I have installed it), and I know that printing works from Gimp (with gutenprint gimp plugin, also installed).

When I connect the printer over USB, I see the following in /var/log/messages:

Jul 11 21:46:45 jacek kernel: [ 317.537567] usb 1-1.2: new full-speed USB device number 9 using ehci-pci

lsusb gives the correct information on Vendor and Product IDs. Where to proceed from here? I know for a fact that the printer worked with previous Ubuntu versions and that it works now with Windows. I'm not sure (I don't remember) whether it worked with 12.04.
