I upgraded 13.04 to Gnome 3.8. Everything worked perfectly before the upgrade.

After the upgrade, I have 2 problems:

  1. I can't turn off my computer from the menubar, but I am able to use the terminal to shut down the computer.

  2. I can't use any of the other drives in my computer. When I do, it gives me this error message:

Unable to access "16 GB Volume" Not authorized to perform operation.

Yes, bad idea indeed. Try to revert the changes and go back to the Supported (from Ubuntu) gnome version. If you upgraded to 3.8 using the ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3, then run in terminal sudo apt-get install ppa-purge and sudo ppa-purge ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3 and sudo apt-get update;sudo apt-get dist-upgrade –  NikTh Jul 11 '13 at 4:29
