We have a Mybook Live NAS which runs a modified Debian and multiple PCs (running Windows and Linux) and Macs connecting to it. It provides file shares via AFP, SMB and FTP.
We have experienced the netatalk client in Ubuntu Linux 12.04 to be unstable - Nautilus crashes and stale shares remain which sometimes prevent the PC from logging off or shutting down cleanly, and there is the problem of file modification times being modified when transferring via AFP (see How can I preserve file modification times when copying to a NAS?).
So we'd like Nautilus to ignore AFP shares. The servers are all reachable by SMB as well, which works fine.
I cannot disable AFP on the server because the Macs need it for Time Machine.
How do I tell Nautilus to ignore AFP shares in its "Network" display? And possibly also SSH shares?
